Historically, the design of PV systems in both existing and new buildings has not considered the impact on smoke and heat extraction. This has resulted in poor aerodynamics, functional problems when installing SHEV flaps (collision with PV systems), lack of access to the SHEV (maintenance corridors) and therefore reduced smoke and heat extraction area.
