Continuous quality assurance during a firmware update of the FACP

Fire alarm technology products, such as a fire alarm control panel (FACP), are subject to permanent quality control by manufacturers and accredited bodies. These bodies are authorized to certify according to the EN 54 series in order to ensure the conformity of the products according to the European Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and the associated mandated harmonized standards of the EN 54 series. The manufacturer must ensure that the functionality of their fire alarm control panel (hardware or software) is maintained and that the certificate remains valid in accordance with the relevant standards of the EN 54 series. The system on site is maintained by appropriately certified installers and maintenance technicians. Firmware updates are installed and the function of the system is checked and documented by them before and after the software change. As a result, it can be stated that the mechanisms described ensure consistent quality assurance when updating the FACP firmware.
