FeuerTRUTZ 2018 starts: fire safety experts from Europe gather in Nuremberg

FeuerTRUTZ remains on course for further growth.
FeuerTRUTZ remains on course for further growth.

FeuerTRUTZ, the International Trade Fair with Congress for Preventive Fire Protection, is starting 2018 by setting new records in two eventful days. This year, 286 exhibitors (2017: 274) have reserved a stand. The net exhibition area has grown in the process by almost 15 percent compared to last year, to a total of 5,500 square metres. FeuerTRUTZ 2018 offers professionals a platform – unique in Europe – to learn all about the market for passive, active and organisational fire protection. The extensive supporting programme also plays a part: even more lectures in the exhibitor forums, live demonstrations at the Fire Protection EXPERIENCE, three Compact Seminars, the Training & Career Meeting Point and the highly regarded FeuerTRUTZ Fire Protection Congress all offer the latest professional knowledge and a number of surprises.

Now in its eighth year, FeuerTRUTZ is continuing its course of unbridled growth. Since the launch event in 2011, FeuerTRUTZ has not only enjoyed steady growth, it has also taken on a more international flavour: this year will see 41 exhibitors travel to Nuremberg from outside Germany, e.g. from the UK, France, Finland, Hungary and Cyprus. Although the fire protection industry is still strongly defined by national regulations and certification, the progress made by FeuerTRUTZ shows that the demand for international discussion between fire safety professionals is constantly growing – and FeuerTRUTZ is proving itself the ideal platform to engage across national borders on industry trends. The range of products and services on show at FeuerTRUTZ comprehensively covers the German-speaking market and important European trends and brands, and is thus also of great interest to international visitors.

The supporting programme at FeuerTRUTZ and the Fire Protection Congress promise a wealth of accumulated expert knowledge.

Innovations and tips in 45 lectures

Both exhibition halls offer trade visitors to the exhibitor forums an overview of the latest developments and trends. These open forums comprise 45 presentations, ten more than last year, covering a cross-section of current questions relating to fire protection. The focal points will be set by four series of presentations, each moderated by partner associations. The agenda includes the series on Plant Technology and Fire Protection – new developments in standardisation and law (German Central Association of the Electrical Engineering and Electronics Industry, ZVEI), Firefighting Water Technology Forum (Federal Association for Technical Fire Protection, bvfa), Fire Protection – the Details Matter (Berlin Fire Safety Academy, BAB) and Smoke Management in Buildings (Smoke Extraction Action Group, AGE), together with additional exhibitor presentations.

Three Compact Seminars provide targeted information

The partners and organisers of FeuerTRUTZ have prepared an in-depth supporting programme for particular target groups and subjects: three Compact Seminars will look at fire safety topics in detail. These include the seminar on “Fire Protection DIRECT Extinguishing Technology” by the bvfa. Another seminar will focus on “Fire protection in Bavaria”, and is aimed particularly at architects and representatives of official agencies in that State. “Well networked in case of fire?” is the question posed by a third seminar, provided by cooperation partner VDI (Association of German Engineers) in the forum for experts in building services.

Training & Career Meeting Point and Job Board for career starters and seasoned professionals

Fire safety professionals looking for training or professional development will find the right services and contacts at the shared Training & Career meeting point. The pavilion has grown further again this year, with 15 providers covering all interests, from study to further education and professional development. For the first time, FeuerTRUTZ will offer its own Job Board, provided by fire safety experts for fire safety experts. Anyone looking for a new professional challenge should also have a look at the new Job Board, either on-site or on-line at www.feuertrutz-messe.de/jobboard.

This new service was fully booked out right at the outset, with 60 vacancies advertised by the exhibiting companies.

Seeing is believing at the Fire Protection EXPERIENCE

It’s all about practice rather than theory at the Fire Protection EXPERIENCE at FeuerTRUTZ. Live fire protection demonstrations under controlled conditions in the outdoor areas and at the stands show how quickly the build-up of smoke in a fire can lead to disorientation; how smoke and heat extraction systems, textile fire protection and fire protection coatings work in practice; and the forms active fire prevention can take. Companies taking part in the Fire Protection EXPERIENCE will be separately identified.

FeuerTRUTZ After Work Party: industry celebration

The FeuerTRUTZ After Work Party, on the evening of the first day of the fair, is an opportunity for all exhibitors, congress delegates and visitors to do some more networking in a relaxed atmosphere and unwind at the end of the day. This year’s After Work Party will be held at the PARKS café in Nuremberg’s city park. It is already fully sold out, with around 550 participants registered to attend.

Fire Protection Congress 2018: cost-efficiency, building regulations and more

The theme of the highly regarded Fire Protection Congress this year is “Fire protection as a cost driver?”. The three-tier congress offers detailed professional knowledge about the questions driving the industry. It is only fitting that the question of the cost-efficiency of fire protection measures should be on the agenda this year. Fires like the one at London’s Grenfell Towers in June 2017 are a stark reminder that saving money on fire protection can have fatal consequences. Even so, fire safety professionals must still consider the question of economic efficiency as part of their job. Other key topics in the programme include the changes to the building regulatory system. Experts will explain the new regulations and offer tips on putting them into practice. The congress programme will also look at the question of accessibility in conjunction with fire protection. The broad range of subjects on the agenda will ensure that experts in passive, active and organisational fire protection will find presentations tailored to their specific areas of interest. Attendees will be awarded points by the many Chambers present, and will subsequently be able to access all the presentations from this year’s Fire Protection Congress as webcasts.
