International Trade Fair with Congress for Preventive Fire Protection

FeuerTRUTZ 2018 was bigger and more international than ever
On 21 and 22 February, FeuerTRUTZ once again made Exhibition Centre Nuremberg the No. 1 hot spot for fire safety professionals. The eighth round of the International Trade Fair with Congress for Preventive Fire Protection broke new records with 286 exhibitors (275 in 2017) and in excess of 8,000 trade visitors (7,108 in 2017). Exhibitors had travelled from 16 countries (14 in 2017), while trade visitors represented more than 40 nations (32 in 2017). They flocked to Europe's biggest trade fair for passive, active and organisational fire protection to learn about the latest regulations and innovative products. The increase to more than 1,600 participants in the Fire Protection Congress and three compact seminars (up from 1,500 in 2017) is further proof of the growing relevance of FeuerTRUTZ for the sector.
FeuerTRUTZ 2018 wasn’t just bigger than in previous years; it was also much more international, with numerous exhibitors and visitors from overseas. The proportion of foreign visitors had almost doubled and was up even more than the German contingent. Stefan Dittrich, Executive Director FeuerTRUTZ, NürnbergMesse, explains: “The figures speak for themselves: As an information platform that covers the German and international market, FeuerTRUTZ is more interesting than ever for exhibitors and trade visitors – particularly in the light of efforts towards Europe-wide harmonisation. FeuerTRUTZ is the must-do event for the fire protection sector,” says congress organiser Günter Ruhe from FeuerTRUTZ Network, adding: “There is simply no substitute for having the latest knowledge about fire protection. Attendance figures for the accompanying Fire Protection Congress and three compact seminars were up again, underscoring the importance of FeuerTRUTZ.”
More extensive supporting programme featuring established and new elements
For this eighth round, FeuerTRUTZ offered an impressive supporting programme that had been extended once again. The three compact seminars, with targeted information sessions on extinguishing technology, fire protection in Bavaria and the interaction between technical building services equipment and fire protection, were very popular. Another enhancement to the programme in Halls 10.0 and 10.1 were the two exhibitor forums with 45 presentations including numerous talks in moderated lecture series on active fire protection, extinguishing water technology, legal issues and smoke management. Live demonstrations on the outdoor demonstration area and at exhibitor stands as part of the Fire Protection EXPERIENCE brought the capabilities of the products to life. At the Training & Career Meeting Point, 15 providers presented training and professional development opportunities for current and future fire safety professionals. This was complemented by the Job Board, which was making its debut and offered suitable career prospects with around 60 job vacancies from participating exhibitors.
Fire Protection Congress explored current challenges
The theme of this year's Fire Protection Congress was “Fire Protection as Cost Driver?” and offered expertise on various issues including building law and fire protection design. The tenor of the congress was that given the right design and execution, fire protection measures are not a cost driver at all but a sensible investment in protecting people and assets. Alongside legal issues, the congress presentations also covered topics like engineering methods, the risk of combustible facades and fire protection design to ensure access for the disabled.
